All countries have peculiar social customs and Iran is no exception. When people are getting ready to leave a gathering, everybody stands up as a sign of respect. You should say خداحافظ “khodâ hafez”, Goodbye and shake hands. It’s also customary to say روز بخیر “rooz bekheir”, Good day on entering a small shop, waiting room or lift, and Good day or Goodbye on leaving. When Persians take their leave , they take their time and converse about general things.

Spoken Form of verb “to be”
There is a clear distinction between the written form and the spoken form in Persian and in some words phonological transformations takes place in the spoken language. For example , the third person singular of verb “o be” است “ast” Is is pronounced as ه ، ﻪ “ e ” or س “s” depending on the last letter of the word.
ه ، ﻪ “e” is suffixed to words ending in a consonant or the vowel ی “ee”.
س “s” is suffixed to words ending in other vowels (a, e, o, â, oo ).
